Hiring a car in Cala Millor

Majorca’s east coast resort of Cala Millor is perhaps best known for its long, sandy beach. Arguably one of the finest on the island, it’s perfect if you’re looking to be beachbound for most of your getaway.

If you’re keen to explore the rest of the island, from the natural beauty of the Serra de Tramuntana to historic attractions like Alcúdia's medieval walls, a hire car can be very useful for getting around. After all, it’ll offer you much more flexibility than public transport, so you can see more of Majorca on your own schedule.

City centre pick-up

For a stress-free start to your trip, book a shuttle from Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) to Cala Millor, which is about an hour’s drive away. You can then hire a car at your leisure, whenever you need your wheels. Providers include:

Driving in Cala Millor

Roads in Cala Millor are typically wide and well-maintained. Summer can be busy with lots of pedestrians around and more road users than usual, so factor in extra travel time.

The main roads in Majorca, which will connect you to most of the island, are generally well-signposted and in good condition. However, roads can feel narrow in towns, and mountain roads usually have some sharp twists and turns.

Be aware that petrol stations aren’t readily available in rural areas, so you may need to top up your tank before a day out. Where possible, try to park in underground car parks that offer shade. If you park on the street, a blue line indicates paid parking, while a yellow line means no parking.

There are speed cameras across the island, so keep to the signposted limits – 50km/h (approximately 31 mph) in urban areas and 120km/h (approximately 75 mph) on the motorway.

Drink driving is taken very seriously, so don’t risk it and always have a designated driver.
