Hiring a car in Torremolinos

Hire a car from Torremolinos to explore the golden beaches and glittering coastline of the sun-drenched Costa del Sol at your leisure. No stresses, no timetables, no crowds. Just you, your playlist and the open road.

When you’ve soaked up enough sun on La Carihuela or Bajondillo beaches, hit the road to check out nearby attractions. There’s the ancient Torre Pimentel tower, the paradisiacal Jardin Botanico Molino de Inca, and Colomares Castle, which is nearby in Benalmadena. Travelling with kids? Head straight for the wet and wild Aqualand.

To the north, the deeply cultural city of Malaga is just 30 minutes away, while upmarket Marbella, further south, is around 45 minutes by road.

Driving in Torremolinos

Driving in Torremolinos is relatively straightforward. It’s well connected via the N-340, which will get you to Malaga in under 30 minutes. A trip to Marbella along the AP-7 takes around 45 minutes. Or head north on the A-357 for mountain towns and sensational scenery.

To tackle the vertiginous walkways of El Caminito del Rey, take the A-357 and park by the north access entrance. The journey usually takes around an hour. If you’re planning to drive through the mountains, an SUV is a good option. If not, a compact or mini hire car from Torremolinos will handle city streets perfectly well.

Whatever your itinerary, there are a couple of things to remember when driving in Spain. Most importantly, motorists drive on the right side of the road.

Secondly, speed limits are in km/h, not mph. Standard speed limits in Spain are 20km/h (12 mph) in residential zones, 50km/h (31 mph) in urban areas, 90km/h (56 mph) on rural roads and 120km/h (75 mph) on motorways. However, speed limits can vary so it’s vital to look out for signage.

Need somewhere to leave your hire car while you explore the city? There’s plenty of paid parking. Both the Parking Plaza Andalucia and Parking Centro Torremolinos are open 24 hours and suitable for longer stays.
