Stornoway airport pick-up

Car Hire Hebrides is the only car hire company based at Stornoway Airport, but other local providers will deliver your rental car to the airport and pick it up again for free.

You’ll find the rental desk for Car Hire Hebrides inside the airport terminal next to the exit sign. When you’ve completed the paperwork, you’ll be taken to your hire car, which will be parked in a bay close to the terminal.

Alternative providers include Stornoway Vehicle Hire and Stornoway Car Hire. Although they don’t have desks at the airport, they offer a free meet-and-greet service, meaning they’ll bring your hire car to you. Simply let them know what time you land and they’ll sort out the rest.

The contact details for the three main providers are:

  • Car Hire Hebrides: +44 185 170 6500
  • Stornoway Vehicle Hire: +44 750 215 6439
  • Stornoway Car Hire: +44 752 243 4215

The town centre is a 6km (3.5 miles) drive from Stornoway Airport. It should take you less than ten minutes to get there via the A866. Highlights here include Lews Castle, the Harris Tweed Story Room and the picturesque harbour.

Further out you can check out attractions like the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village and the Butt of Lewis, which is said to be one of the windiest places in Scotland (it’s set on the isle’s most northern tip).

When you need to return your hire car to Stornoway Airport, remember to top up your petrol to avoid paying any extra fees. Campbell's Service Station is around a seven-minute drive from the airport.
